DAVID STRICK’s fascination with behind-the-scenes aspects of Hollywood media culture has most recently led him to originate a Hollywood-themed internet photo feature for the Los Angeles Times website called “David Strick’s Hollywood Backlot” that debuted in May, 2008. Along with sharing his creative photography and stories, he will discuss the difference between working for print publications and working in a web environment.

David’s interest in the entertainment world is of long duration and includes over eleven years of producing a monthly photo column for Premiere Magazine called “David Strick’s Hollywood”, and a book entitled “Our Hollywood”.

David has worked as an editorial, advertising and corporate photographer for many years, with editorial work appearing in Time, Life, Newsweek, Vanity Fair, Fortune, Sports Illustrated and The New York Times Magazine among others.

David’s family has worked in Hollywood for three generations, and includes both Oscar winners and blacklistees. His work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution; the Cooper-Hewitt Museum; the Cincinnati Art Museum and the Denver Art Museum. It was featured at the “Visa pour I’Image” photo festival in Perpignan, France, and is in the collection of the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris as well as numerous private collections. His photographs have won awards in the professional publications: Communication Arts, American Photography and Graphis. David likes to describe himself as “taller and better-looking than he appears in person.”
